Preamble

Our correspondent is arriving soon to take you through today's sprint race (14:00 GMT) and grid-setting session (18:00 GMT).

Real-Time Updates

Warm-Up Lap Time

The formation lap has begun.

Circuit Details

We have nineteen laps around the lengthiest track in Formula 1, the commentator informs us.

Countdown

The final countdown has begun.

Driver Situation

An advantage in Verstappen's favour: his teammate Tsunoda is ahead of him by one place. It's improbable to challenge the team's main man.

Media Conversations

Sky interviewing Sky now: the analyst is at the Mercedes team.

Karun Chandhok is looking forward to 2026, interviewing Adrian Newey about his stepping up to Aston Martin team principal.

Grid Details

Just 16 cars on the grid. This followed another poor grid-setting session for the driver: after coming twentieth and final in Las Vegas, resulting in an eighth-place finish in the main race, he did not manage to advance of Q1 once more on Friday. Ferrari have consequently adjusted to his setup and so he begins from the starting area.

The team's Lance Stroll and the Alpine duo of Pierre Gasly and Franco Colapinto are all doing likewise.

Racer Statements

"We take the learning for tomorrow," states Hadjar, 11th on the grid. There will be a lot of that.

Team Standings

The focus isn't solely on the individual championship: The team have dominated the team championship but Mercedes, with a forty-point advantage over their rivals, are aiming to seal second place during this event. Russell can assist in this goal from second place, and Antonelli will begin immediately after the leader.

Previous Results

Piastri won that day – as he did last year, as well. The driver from McLaren is going for a hat-trick.

Sprint Race Value

Alright, just over twenty minutes remaining until the sprint race begins. Barring disaster, its main importance is as a preview of future events, instead of significant in its own right, with only eight points awarded to the winner. However, the runner-up spot in this race was enough for Verstappen to claim the title in a prior season.

The driver wins F1 world title following his teammate's accident of the short race.
